Fruits and vegetables; beans, legumes and lentils; whole grains; seeds; nuts; dark chocolate; teas; and some fermented edibles are healthiest food available to you. If you stick to them, you are living a healthy and happier life.
1. Fruits and Vegetables
Full of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibers, fruits and vegetables keep us healthy. They have different flavors and textures so most people like them. Darker the fruits and vegetables higher the nutrition contents. If you are able to follow a diet strictly based on FRUITS & VEGETABLES, I don’t think you will ever get sick.
2. Beans and Lentils
Beans and lentils are good source of vegetarian proteins packed with different vitamins and minerals. Make a habit of consuming at least 1 daily serving.
3. Whole Grains
Whole grains such as oats, wheat, maize, barley, brown rice is full of fiber and good for your digestive system. Your appetite feels fuller for longer time, minimizes overeating thus helps in weight control. If you are gluten intolerant, whole grains may not suit you.
4. Seeds
Flax, sesame, chia, sunflower, hemp, pumpkin and quinoa are super seeds which contain healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, and many significant vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
5. Nuts
Walnuts, cashews, almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios are common nuts which are full of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, good fats. Avoid salted roasted nuts which come in stores. Try to buy any foods in their purely natural state.
6. Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate contains more that 50% of cocoa solids. It may be bitter but try to consume a dark chocolate which shows more than 90% of cocoa. It is a powerful source of antioxidants and may improve brain function. They are good for your health.
7. Teas
Tea, especially green tea may boost
your immune system, fight off inflammation, and even ward off cancer and heart
disease thanks to its high level of antioxidants.
8. Spices
Spices like cinnamon, turmeric, garlic, ginger, and cumin, as well as chili, host many health benefits such as longevity benefits, higher metabolism, protection against cancer and inflammation.
9. Fermented Foods
Kimchi, miso, soy, pickle to name some contain probiotic bacteria which are beneficial to intestinal flora, digestive system and immune system.
